Mediocre film about a French baker who becomes obsessed with his new neighbor across the street. The story is a bit on the boring side and the film itself is also a bit long-winded. It all starts well and Gemma Arterton is of course also fun to watch. Maybe a bit more fun if you get all the literary parallels.

Meh.

Otherwise it starts off as a nice little thing, with a languid atmosphere and some semi-funny situations.

Unfortunately, both Martin and Gemma become more annoying as the film progresses and the fun gradually diminishes.

A bit of a shame because both Fabrice Luchini and Gemma Arterton fit perfectly in this type of film. For Arterton, this was a similar film after Tamara Drewe - perhaps not the world's best actress, but incredibly charming in this genre.

Light-hearted romantic comedy with fun roles from Fabrice Luchini and Gemma Arterton. Gemma knows how to make men's minds crazy with her sexy appearance and playful expressions. At one point there is also a surprising sex scene of hers that cannot be disguised. Considering the concept, the final scene can be called somewhat surprising, making the film seem less light-hearted than you would suspect in advance. 6/10
