Michel Strogoff plot

Russia is overrun in the east by the Tatars, who are aided by Ivan Ogareff, a defected ex-officer of the Tsarist army. Michel Strogoff is asked by the Tsar to bring a secret letter to the Grand Prince of Irkutsk. When Michel is captured by the Tartars, Ogareff turns out to be there too. He unmasks Strogoff, after which Strogoff is stabbed in the eye with a hot poker.
