"He gave her a gift this town will never forget."
Duncan Mayor (Andy Garcia) plans to give his wife Suzy (Mary-Louise Parker) the perfect Christmas present: a ride on a Ferris wheel, set up in their own backyard. As a young man, this was the perfect place for a marriage proposal. Now, years later, Duncan is willing to do anything to relive that experience with his wife. But Natalie Stringer, a home nurse, moves in with the two to care for Suzy, but also creates tension.

A television film that, partly due to the performance of Andy Garcia, becomes quite moving. The premise is original (Ferris wheel in the backyard), but unfortunately there are also the clichéd side steps in which Mandy Moore (always a nice added value for the rest) is involved.

Simplistically constructed Christmas film for television, with sympathetic characters and a cute ending. These kinds of projects are extremely suitable for not too difficult entertainment during the relevant period, in that respect Christmas in Conway is about the highest attainable level within this universe. Andy Garcia, Mary-Louise Parker and Mandy Moore also show neat acting, despite the limited material they work with. It is a pity that director John Kent Harrison touches on a number of annoying sidetracks (Cheri Oteri falls completely out of tune as the mean neighbor) and sometimes falls too easily for saccharine sentiment, but in the end the event still managed to touch me.
