I didn't have much of a connection with Doe Maar in the past, but of course the qualities of the band cannot be denied in retrospect. This first-class documentary examines the rise and fall of the Doe Maar phenomenon thirty years later, using candid interviews with the most important members and fantastic archive material. They are very sympathetic guests, that's for sure. In fact, no one, even now, is really able to explain the overwhelming success of that time. However, it is clear that the band succumbed to its own success.

Go ahead...who hasn't grown up with it?
Interesting documentary about and with the (ex-) band members, how it started, the ups and downs, the spirit of the times, the record company that makes money from it, mutual struggles and relationships, the fans and the end of the band, everything is covered in a bit. . A must see for fans and non-fans.
Anyway, a nice band as far as I'm concerned!

Nice subject, but as a documentary there could have been more. Direction and tension could have been better.
The good-natured provincial background of the band members, the fairly present drug use and the rapid rejuvenation of the fans are recurring elements and stick around the most. And the difference between the two front men, the confident hitmaker Vrienten and the dreamy romantic Jansz, is also quite clear.
