The Crossing plot

"Where destiny meets desire."

Johnny lives with his bed-sick mother; his father is a war hero who died on the battlefield. He proposes to his girlfriend Meg and the next day goes to Anzac Day, the day on which the city commemorates its war victims. There he sees Sam, Meg's ex who left her without saying a word. However, Sam finds himself unable to live without her and has returned to take her with him. Meg rejects him, but suddenly feels disconnected from Johnny as well. However, news that Johnny has proposed to Meg quickly spreads around the small town and the residents urge him to challenge Sam to a car race to win Meg back.
