The Couch Trip plot
"A comedy of truly loony proportions."
A popular radiation oncologist, Dr George Mailin, is on the brink of collapse and urgently needs a suitable replacement. Elsewhere, psychiatric patient John Burns escapes from the facility where he has been admitted. John assumes the identity of his psychiatrist Dr. Baird to avoid the police. He decides to flee to Los Angeles to take over George Maitlin's practice. The regular listeners of the radio program regard John as a revelation and soon everyone is impressed by his special advice to listeners with psychological problems.
