51-year-old illegal Ghanaian immigrant Agymah has lost his faith in humanity and leads a hidden life as a cook in the Ghanaian community in the Bijlmer. Until he is stuck with twelve-year-old Nina, who is impatient to make a new start in the Netherlands. Touched by her enormous zest for life, he carefully reconnects with life outside. But then disaster strikes; a plane crashes into their apartment building and Agymah desperately searches for the girl who gave him another reason to live.
