Muse and wife.

La Rupture's biggest flaw is that it exudes a certain laziness. In his better work, he focuses on the tension between a number of characters, but here he lacks balance.

After Audran's passionate confession at the beginning, you just have to assume for the rest of the story that she is strong-willed. She only reveals something of herself again at the end of the film.

The film seems to revolve entirely around the power games of Cassell and Bouquet.

Audran and her deranged husband get completely buried under this. Given the denouement, they are primarily the victims (both cause and effect) of this exercise of power.

Intense film in which manipulation, sex, oppression, and death play a major role. Audran, Bouquet, and Cassel deliver good acting. 3.2*
