Very nice film about a group of Italians who grow up in a 'gang'' in the Bronz. Many different themes are mentioned, so that the film feels nice and light (partly thanks to the incredibly catchy music), but at the same time also feels serious thanks to the hard life on the street that is not always fair.

Very unsympathetic movie.
A lot of noisy gangs that are not capable of much more than making a lot of noise and some half-baked fighting. Not only that, but just about everyone in this movie seems to belong to one of those gangs.
Furthermore, a lot of unpleasant characters, especially that Joey was insufferable. Reminded me of Joe Pesci somehow, and that's never a good sign. Any drama and humor didn't work for me at all.
But ultimately the film has to rely mainly on the music. Definitely not my thing, but I can imagine that people who do like it suddenly find themselves better in the film.
Not for me this. Gangbang and annoying characters, with a soundtrack that didn't captivate me at all. There is nothing cinematic about it at all.

Good film about a gang of young people who try to stand their ground against the other gangs. The film is set in the Bronx of 1963 and gives a nice picture of the time through the decoration and especially the fine soundtrack. Nice character, nice moments and a nice balance between comedy and drama.

I don't like (mass) fights and macho behaviour. But of course a story about rival youth gangs cannot do without. Partly because of this, this film manages to sketch the youth culture in The Bronx in the 1960s in a nice way. The film is certainly not flawless (eg why does love interest Karen Allen silently disappear from the story?). However, the shortcomings are more than made up for by the great choice of music. I got the impression that with Dion, The Chantays, Mr. Acker Bilk, The Champs, The Shirelles, The Four Seasons, Bob Dylan and others passed the entire chart of 1962/63. In the field of soundtracks, this is without a doubt a classic.

Nice atmosphere sketch about being young in the sixties and rivalry between youth gangs, with a smile and a tear and the cheerful, lively music from that time. What did young people do when there was no IPad and the internet? Just hanging out in the neighborhood, kicking some ass, partying and having fun together, building bonds. I found the Baldies who simply drunkenly engage in the Navy and completely disappeared from the streets

Movie that I confused with Coppola's The Outsiders for a long time, so I brought this The Wanderers with me when I got the chance. The question remains whether I've actually ever seen this one, because parts seemed really familiar to me or there must be a lot of parallels with The Outsiders.
Gangs, gangs, and more gangs. Not enough of youth gangs in the Bronx with the Kalen and the Ducky Boys being the most dangerous. Except for the gang rivalry and an upcoming football game, very little happens except for the usual worries of young adults. A struggle for survival slightly more romanticized than a Sleepers (Hell's Kitchen). Dominant fathers with loose hands, mothers in need, little future perspective, a nice image of the time and especially love troubles.
Funny is the way the recruiting officer works, especially the fat one, Terror, that I recently saw in The Running Man. They play with a defector for a while and then build up to a nice ending and massive brawl. But that's about it, despite a blissful Karen Allen, the charming Ken Wahl, a lot of good music and a number of funny moments, The Wanderers doesn't have much to offer except a fairly average image.
Final verdict is nice for once, but nothing more.
