Hard to rate movie for me. A film that doesn't rely on flash, horror or action. On the contrary. The film is rather slow and subdued. Despite an almost limited plot as the film progressed, the panache and some plot did emerge.

At the center is a vampire couple that isolate themselves from the human world and live from day to day. The daily schedule is not very good. Here and there some typical characteristics of vampires are unraveled, but there is not much message to it. Necks are avoided and people go lazy, as if tigers are being fed wishes instead of hunting.

What was strong about the film was the atmosphere, soundtrack and acting. Especially the opening scene was very clever with that record player.

The life of the depressed underground musician Adam [Tom Hiddleston] is shed some light through his reunion with his great love Eve [Tilda Swinton], with whom he has been faithful for a (very) long time. The two share a special secret with (not related to?) Christopher Marlowe [John Hurt]. Ian [Anton Yelchin] is Adam's friend who arranges some special business for him and Mia Wasikowska a relative who unexpectedly drops in in this quintessentially unconventional, dryly comical film by Jarmusch and a perfect cast that strikes just the right tone. Don't expect explicit humor, but there's more than enough to chuckle.

A film about some celebrities from a distant past who have eternal life and now live in the present time. An initially very special story, but in the end it turns out to be just a Dracula movie. And although I have nothing to do with Dracula films, I can really appreciate this special version and in the beautiful recognizable design and atmosphere of a typical Jim Jarmush film. Quite an original movie this way.
