I think Esmée van Kampen is very good in her role. She empathizes completely. The story captivated me from beginning to end. There may be a little too much drama happening. Especially for a fairly short film. Nice ending. 4*

The mentally handicapped Brook [Esmée van Kampen] lives with her mother Pamela [Ellen Pieters] and her sister [Carolien Spoor] in a house in Amsterdam-Noord. Although she neatly files every unpaid bill, she is completely unaware of the dire financial situation they find themselves in. Sue's new boyfriend Johan [Gijs Naber] brings some sunshine into her life until a tragic event turns her life upside down. Van Kampen is brilliant in this balanced psychological drama that, despite many pitfalls, never falls into cheap sentiment and in which the humor is never at the expense of the main character. I don't feel like I've been watching a really bad movie. A story about a mentally handicapped girl who lives with her mother and sister. It is a very compelling story, where very terrible things happen in succession. But the film still fails to touch everything that happens. Although the acting is excellent and the story is also clear. Seen from the point of view of the girl, who does not always know how to create the right "pictures" of an event. But for me the film did not reach me in the way I would expect from such a film with such a story. It still struck me as if the story was too big for a small film like this. Perhaps too ambitious for this director. In any case, not convincing or believable enough. And because of that he missed the necessary depth and emotion that comes with this type of film.
