Image of the stage in the 1930s. The many chatter between the actresses and whoever revolves around is somewhat or sometimes very boring. Fortunately, there is a great lady like Katharine Hepburn who is a pleasure to listen to and watch.

I am a fan of the somewhat older film, but this one could not convince me. The interplay of all those ladies is very good, and well directed too, but the story has little to do. Quite a few characters are introduced and many remain somewhat obscure characters. Even a diva like Hepburn doesn't get many opportunities to show off here, actually I was only impressed by Ginger Rogers. Maybe female viewers like this, but for men it is very tiring to watch overly chattering women for an hour and a half, a chicken coop without any depth. Definitely expected more from this.

If it is true that the director first got his cast together and based the dialogues on that, that says something about interaction between women who don't seem to give each other the light in the eyes, partly because of that the drama ending and happy ending are not that great believable .

As a viewer, listening to the constant stabbing each other in the back also becomes very tiring in the long run.

There is good acting, especially by Rogers and Hepburn, although the latter also knows very well what overacting is.

I almost gave this a 2 1/2, but still just a 3
