John Jasper is a moody choirmaster at a school in England during the Victorian era. He leads a double life as an opium addict. Jasper becomes obsessed with the beautiful Rosa, a young college student engaged to Edwin Drood. She senses that something is not right with Jasper and is therefore terrified of him. Her fear turns out to be justified.
