During a disaster drill at the airport in Sioux City, Iowa, a fight breaks out between Gary Brown, the chairman of the disaster committee, and fire chief Jim Hathaway. Two years later, the emergency really arises: an airliner with 296 passengers on board has to make an emergency landing in Sioux City. When it lands, the plane disintegrates into several parts and a high sea of flames destroys everything around it...
