A Christmas Carol plot

A modern take on Dickens' classic tale of a man, Scrooge, who discovers the true meaning of Christmas. He is only interested in money, behaves heartlessly and does not practice generosity. This modern version of "A Christmas Carol" came about through Ross Kemp's ambition. He was a longtime fan of the original book by Charles Dickens. It was also his first major role, after he left the soap opera EastEnders in 2000. The film was shot at the Alexandra Road Council estate in Camden, London. The iconic estate was built between 1968 and 1978 by architect and artist Neave Brown. The estate has featured in several other blockbuster and TV movies as the archetypal ghetto. Ben Tibber previously played the role of Tiny Tim Cratchit in A Christmas Carol.

The story has a creative angle, and deviates in some lines from the original version. This takes some getting used to, but it doesn't necessarily mean the movie is bad. Towards the end I started to appreciate him more and more. Many fans of "A Christmas Carol" therefore believe that you should give this version a chance. Unfortunately, it was never released on DVD.
