There are two more similar films, I even think this one is a re-remake of Call of the Wild

from 1935 and Call of the Wild from 1972. I find all three of them almost equally good and heartwarming.

A comparable film is White Fang from 1991, this time with Ethan Hawke. Also a good one in my opinion.

is mainly loving communication between human (The Loner) and animal (Faithful and Brave). While

in the meantime you are treated to beautiful images of the natural, inhospitable environment

where you are soon forced to survive.
