Tradita plot
"A new sex-kitten role for Brigitte that will send thrills up and down your spine"
Infatuation with the same girl brings rivalry between aristocratic brothers around 1918 in the part of present-day Italy that still belongs to Austria. The brother who gets her uses his concert tours as a cover for resistance activities, but is betrayed by the other, who takes his place in the firing squad.

Hate, love and betrayal
A new sex-kitten role for Brigitte that will send thrills up and down your spine—so reads the poster. Why 'new', I wonder, and why those thrills would have to run down my spine. Was it meant to be horror, then?
That poster was probably from a later date, because when this film came out, BB hadn't yet achieved her fame as a sex bomb, and moreover, she plays a rather good girl, and actually not that sensational either – no one would remember the film if she hadn't found her status later. And actually, even then, given the attention here.
Still, it is not a bad film. It is quite a nice portrayal of the era, for example, although I think it is also slightly anachronistic here and there. I couldn't place that beautiful car in 1914, for instance; besides that, the film was of course made only after WW2 and not right after WW1; yet, it must have been easier and more obvious back then to capture the right details than it is now.
While the story might not be very appealing and the actors don't make much of an impression, the visuals are certainly beautiful. The Director of Photography is none other than Tonino Delli Colli, who would later direct The Good, The Bad and the Ugly, Ouatitt, and many more famous films. And what naturally helps a great deal is that the film was shot in Alto Adige—easily one of the most beautiful places in the world.
I didn't find the much-discussed fact that BB doesn't even speak her own voice all that dramatic; apart from a few minor sloppiness, the dubbing is actually quite well done. Much better than we are used to these days, it crossed my mind.
