The Obama Effect plot
"A people's past, a nation's future, one man's passion."
Serious health problems cause John Thomas, a fifty-year-old insurance agent, to scrutinize his life up to that point. Motivated by his obsession with Barack Obama, he gets involved in the presidential campaign. While obsessed with Obama's ideal of change for Americans, John, in turn, has failed to make a positive change in his life, especially with regard to his health and family relationships. John hides his problems from his wife Molly, which puts extra pressure on their marriage. Then he decides to seek support from a Republican relative, who is initially reluctant to support a Democratic candidate.
