The classic theme of a marriage falling apart due to outside influences.

However, the script is bland and it deteriorates as the film progresses to ultimately seem unlikely and even unclear.

The actors are not convincing either.

Could have extracted something much more sound from this theme.

The story is little more than a simple dull soap opera; scenes just don't end with a zooming shot of someone's stunned expression or tears welling up in the eyes, but it could have been done just like that.
The Bold, the Black and the Beautiful.
What strikes me now about Tyler Perry is that you hardly ever see female nudity, but that the men are constantly walking around in their bare chest.
Constant comments about religion: "Have faith in God" or "I don't believe in premarital sex." That scene with the praying before dinner, for example. That mother even resembles Carrie's mother: "Satan!"
Kim Kardashian exudes all Razzie and that has been answered.
Naive women who go along with the wrong men time and time again, don't pick up signals and keep coming back and eventually let themselves be beaten black and blue.
But the worst part is the character who catches HIV after a slip. Thou shalt not commit adultery, seems to be the message here.
And did I see it right, at the end, did that guy exchange his wife for another one, why? Because she cheated or because she has HIV?
Wtf!

Tyler Perry is a man on a mission.

He would like to make films for the committed African American society. Where style, norms and values and especially faith are high on the agenda. Tyler Perry is the kind of filmmaker who always wants to be on the right side, but the result is often a characterless and soulless film that is branded Tyler Perry.

In this Temptation: Confessions of a Marriage Counselor everything is covered that will make lovers relish and haters run to the toilet.

To be clear, I fall into the latter category and often ran to the toilet while watching this film. This film is another big series of sickening correctness, moralistic nonsense and characters that are little more than empty shells.

Watching a film like this from time to time is a good reminder of how terrible Puritan nonsense can be.

No, I'd rather put on a Spike Lee movie. A filmmaker with character and talent and a fierce opponent of Tyler Perry.

Staggeringly bad, but wonderful to focus on when writing a review.

For the masochist among us. It's still on Netflix
