Seeing and experiencing 'Epic' regularly made me nostalgic for the much more modest and cozy Arietty. Epic was quite busy and crammed, while the story remained quite superficial and predictable and left nothing to think about afterwards. It would have been a more interesting film (I think also for young viewers) if good and bad, growth and destruction had not been portrayed as two separate worlds but also had both sides of each other in them. In the end, the green fantasy (despite being unnaturally designed) and the Slug 'n Snail falling out of the blue kept it a bit amusing. After many years 'Epic' was another foray into American animation, but I remember why I much prefer to watch Japanese.

Mediocre.
Still, this is a mediocre animated film. Wasn't really fun for a moment. Indeed, the animation itself is quite nice, but yes. The characters were painfully dull, especially that teenage girl. The film has almost no working humor, even for children.
Was kinda hard to get through, the action was dull, the characters were dull and the story dragged on. There were some nicer scenes here and there, but in general it was all pretty weak.
You can safely skip this movie, you really don't miss anything.
