Romola plot

Florence, Italy, during the Renaissance. Tito Melema is a mischievous young man who pretends to be a scholar. He receives admiration from a blind man, who has long been looking for someone who can complete his scientific work. Romola is his beautiful daughter. Tito flirts with the peasant girl Tessa in the streets and pretends to marry her for fun, which Tessa takes seriously. Romola, who does not really love Tito, marries him because her father wishes.
