Teenage Betty Elliott has decided to take over her father Doc Elliott's business. She believes her father should marry the widow Julie Carter, the mother of her boyfriend Chris Carter. Doc is a true friend and father to Chris, who has learned under his guidance to take care of all the sick animals in town. Julie's lack of money prevents her son Chris from finishing high school and further medical education is completely out of the question. Rich Grandpa Harper, who hates Julie, sends his lawyer Baker to tell her that Jimmy can make all his dreams come true if she gives up custody of her son.
