Above Us All plot
Shay is a girl who is looking for guidance to cope with the death of her mother. Her mother is of Aborigine descent and her father is a Fleming who conducts research as an astronomer at and from the Australian observatories. He decides to go back to Europe and takes his daughter with him. Shay not only has to say goodbye to her mother, but also to her wise friend, the landscape, her roots. For example, Shay ends up with her brother Caleb and her father in Ypres, Belgium, where they find shelter in Shay's aunt's Bed & Breakfast. Shay is used to roaming outdoors, to have space around her, to be by herself, and it's hard for her to settle under the desolate gray skies of the European continent that always seems to be raining. But most of all, she has to deal with her mother's death.
