Capitães da Areia plot
In Salvador, Bahia, Brazil, in the 1950s, a gang of street children known as the 'Capitães da Areia' (Captains of the Sand) live and are hunted down like common criminals. But actually they are ordinary children, almost a hundred in all, wholly abandoned by their parents. But they will not remain children for long: at the end of this odyssey, many of them will have become men. The film covers one year in the lives of these boys, during which they experience incredible adventures, have the most beautiful dreams, go through hell, discover sex and some find death and others find their freedom.
