Pakeezah plot
Courtesan Nargis falls in love with Shahabuddin, a man from a respectable family. She dreams that she can start a new life with her beloved. It turns out to be a vain hope, as Shahabuddin's family disapproves of the union. Nargis flees to a graveyard. There she gives birth to Shahabuddin's daughter, Sahibjaan, and dies heartbroken. Sahibjaan grows up to be a refined beauty. She is trained in singing and dancing and becomes a much sought after courtesan. Sahibjaan's life is changed by a chance encounter on a train with a stranger.
