Brammetje Baas plot

Brammetje thinks a lot about the world around him. He is really looking forward to going to group three. But then he enters the class with the strict master Vis. The old-fashioned master Vis has no eye for the inner world of the mobile, unconcentrated boy and does everything he can to keep Little Bram in line. Brammetje's parents wrestle with the question to what extent they should expect their son to adapt without becoming very unhappy.

Brammetje has difficulty concentrating in Group 3 and cannot express his energy and talent (he is an excellent chess player and knows all the traffic signs by heart, according to his parents) there. As a result, he regularly gets into trouble with Master Vis [René Groothof], who, together with Bram's parents [Katja Herbers, Tjebbo Gerritsma], tries to find a suitable joint approach. T hese somewhat forced attempts at levity (including some silly slapstick) undermine the serious underlying message about the recognition of differences between children in education. But Van der Heide deserves praise for the fact that Meester Vis is not a caricature. Thanks to Groothof's modest playing, you have sympathy and understanding for his dilemmas. Isabelle Smit is also disarming as Brammje's caring classmate Liselore Luisjes.

Nice homegrown film. The story is quite nice because it has an underlying message for older viewers and perhaps younger viewers will recognize the behavior of the protagonist. The film is enjoyable to watch and is shown in a fun way. There are quite a few funny scenes in it. Overdam plays a strong role. The chemistry between the other players is also excellent. Recommended for the whole family. 3.5/4.0

Very nice, with all those animations that clearly show how it can work in a child's brain and how "absence" absolutely does not mean that nothing is going on in your head. Excellent performance by the protagonist, although his dialogues do not always flow naturally, but this is never really disturbing. Touching moments with the parents who at a certain point no longer know, and their torn between their attitude at home (where mother only says "It doesn't matter" when Brammetje knocks over a cup or a plate, and laughs when he puts an egg on his smashes his head) and opposite school (where mother and father also see that Master Vis may not have the ideal relationship with Brammetje, fortunately without the latter being blamed).
When Brammetje came to Master Vis in his wheelchair at the end with the cake, I could have sworn that at the last moment he would accidentally let the cake slip out of his hands, and by his diving to prevent that Master Vis ends up in trouble. But surprisingly enough, that scene had a disaster-free ending, and it is all the funnier what happens to Master Vis himself when he wants to thank Brammetje for his letter read. Witty, moving and wise.
