The opening of this film is quite majestic. While the opening credits are still running, we see the English and French soldiers marching towards the battlefield at Vitoria in 1813, accompanied by the Wellington Sieg. Meanwhile, we also see Beethoven performing the premiere of this march in the main hall of the Vienna Academy. As the battle breaks out with a cavalry charge from the Polish lancers, Ludwig receives a standing ovation and then switches to the well-known image of the penniless Beethoven. Despite the setbacks, we see a cheerful Beethoven throughout the film who slowly works towards the next climax: the 9th symphony!
