"Home is where the harm is."
Bethany Pruitt (Rickards) is being tutored at home and is stuck with her brother Shayne (Spanish) and her strict mother (Gunn). Her gay father lives in a trailer with his much younger friend Chip. He wallows in self-pity and is drinking, something Bethany finds difficult to bear. She finds solace in selling clothes at a shop called Jail Bait, but this too is not without problems. Then she stumbles upon the Fashion Art Technology Institute and sees a chance to leave everything behind and start working on a bright future. She just has to get away from home first.

Not much new under the sun in this routine coming-of-age film about a teenager who tries to wrestle herself from her extremely dominant mother. The characters around her seem more like caricatures, but Ashley Rickards is a fresh appearance.
