“What you did is way beyond the money.”

A film set in the wealthy circles of New York. Robert Miller seems like a sympathetic family man, but behind that facade lies a world of fraud and adultery. Great role by Richard Gere, who makes a strong impression (especially the scene with his daughter in the park).

The director first chooses to work out the subplot around the mistress. A somewhat unfortunate choice, because it is only when Arbitrage focuses on the fraud story that the film really comes to life, and it becomes exciting. Sarandon, Roth, Marling and Parker, among others, play their roles well. The ending is a bit predictable, but I thought it was fitting. Because the impact Miller's actions have on his family (and the respect he loses) is more interesting than just seeing him go to jail. He loses everything, but doesn't have to go to jail. A great ending.

Thrilling, well-crafted thriller starring Richard Gere as a desperate businessman who races against time to sell his company to a major bank before his fraudulent act is exposed. Script, cast and design are top notch; in addition, the hectic, nightmarish atmosphere of the whole event is well captured. Director Nicholas Jarecki is the brother of documentary maker Andrew Jarecki, known for Capturing The Friedmans and The Jinx.

A film in which you actually know exactly what to expect when Richard Gere has the lead role.

Great acting, which makes you sympathize with a "bad" man and understand his actions when you look through his eyes. Constantly hoping that, by his next step, he'll straighten things out, no matter how bad that actually is.

Richard Gere always plays believable and in every role he plays has something mysterious about him that sucks you in the movie. The same thing that Michael Douglas also has.

No matter how "bad" their characters are, there is never complete dislike for them. That's why I think they are extremely suitable for this genre.

Although this film was more drama than thriller and therefore there were few plot twists in it, there was really more than enough tension in it.

With the right cast around it, this is a really great movie!
