Nice Dutch film that seems to have some trouble starting up, but then makes up for it.

The film starts to get interesting when the exchange student arrives at the Van End home.

For a Dutch film this is certainly a success, the film is sometimes a bit slow but is working towards a very impressive finale.

3.5*

Have a bit of the same feeling as most here. That there was more to get out of it. Because in terms of plot and characters there was enough material. I also got the impression that they were a bit lifeless characters. All a bit caricatured. Which in itself is not necessarily an objection, but in this case I thought it was as there wasn't much to compensate for that, not even with a bit of natural acting, which unfortunately is not the case in most Dutch productions anyway. case.

Luckily it wasn't boring. That's why still a 2.75 *

Pretty nice snack, no more than that for me. The (style of the) film is linked to the work of many great directors that I read about. And that's possible, I didn't think the film had its own stamp at all. In addition, it all remains a bit too well-behaved and simple. Both the plot and the characters could have been more. The film has a lot of good scenes, but it could have been a bit sharper. It all stayed a bit flat this way. But I had a great time, fun for once.
