Not too good.

West proves once again that he is a very limited director. Not that I have such high regard for these kinds of films, but with Cage in the lead role this should be better. Unfortunately, it has become a very average action thriller.

Now Cage himself isn't doing great either. He especially looks very difficult, especially when he has to run fast. One shot almost seems like a parody, but this is all meant deadly serious. The rest of the cast fares even worse, with Akerman and Lucas leading the way.

The plot is bland, but that was to be expected. More disappointing is that most of the action scenes aren't worth much and that the heists are also fairly dull. Fortunately, the film has enough pace that it never threatens to get really boring, but in this genre there are much better films to be found. You can safely skip this one.

2.0*

The movie starts off great - bank robbery scenes can often lead to good moments and so does this movie. Well shot, exciting (despite some clichés) and nicely edited. After that, unfortunately, the film collapses and ends sadly. The story (something with someone who just got out of prison, wants to lead a better life and a kidnapped daughter) is not what the film needs, but somewhere you can expect something original. And if that gold robbery at the end suddenly goes very easily then it stops, I am not completely retarded as a viewer. A nice Cage and some rougher scenes make the film worth watching for a long time to come. Until those last scenes. 2.0*.
