Family physician Jeremy Lovell and the sheriff are sent into the woods of Robertsville where he must officially determine the death of Miss Violet Kelly. In the hut, where the woman lived as a hermit, they find the otherworldly girl Nell. She has lived all her life in seclusion and is very scared. Moreover, she speaks her own unintelligible language, which makes any form of communication impossible. Wanting to help Nell, Jeremy turns to psychiatrist Paula Olsen for advice.

Actually quite a retarded drama with a silly somewhat unrealistic story. I liked the beginning of the movie and it kept me interested. It wasn't until people started to observe Nell that I thought it all became bland, clichéd and retarded. What I especially disliked in this film was nota bene lead actress Jodie Foster as Nell. She played it well on paper and she also had a special non-everyday role, but I hated how she always moved and reacted spastic. Also the ridiculous gibberish she pronounced was terrible. It was a bonus that she regularly undressed because in 1994 Jodie Foster still looked reasonable. Liam Neeson and Natasha Richardson couldn't convince me either and the bickering between them was also very bland. All in all, nice to see once, but nothing more. Incidentally, the film is still regularly broadcast on MGM (I saw it on that too) for fans of this film.

Also watched this one and again not a miss movie. A very special story that was so good for once. Excellent acting and yet convincingly played.
Not a fast film, but it wasn't long winded either.
Well, I certainly didn't get bored with it and I'm glad I saw this one. I don't need to see him again right away, but it certainly wasn't a bad idea either.

Let's especially remember Jodie Foster's clever game, because I still have my doubts about the credibility of such history and the scientific justification of the event.
The film is fascinating, arouses a certain emotion, but at the end it is very corny and in fact clearly explains here what happened in the past and how Nell ended up in such a situation.
Liam Neeson is very sympathetic in this film.
