Low-budget indie romcom about the paranoid Kenneth (Mark Duplass), who searches through an advertisement for a companion for his time-traveling mission. He finds it in Darius (Aubrey Plaza), an otherworldly journalism intern who is actually after a juicy article for the newspaper.

"Wanted: someone to go back in time with me", many a reader will laugh at such an advertisement, but three journalists dive on top of it. As we get to know Kenneth better, we hope his plan succeeds.

A film with a heart that manages to hold the attention with limited resources. Director Colin Trevorrow (of course best known for the Action / Adventure film "Jurassic World (2015)" makes a heartwarming, comical and sparkling debut.

Since her mother's death, Darius [Aubrey Plaza] has felt like an outsider and barely had a social life. She's interning at a magazine in Seattle when Jeff [Jake Johnson] picks her and Arnua [Karan Soni] to work with him on the story behind a call in which someone seeks a partner to travel back in time with, "safety not guaranteed'. The trio spend several days in the vicinity of the ad's mailbox, but while Jeff uses the time to pursue an old love, Darius makes contact with the Kenneth [Mark Duplass], person who placed the call. Plaza and Duplass are excellently cast and play their roles without any irony. However, the subplot surrounding Jeff and his longtime love Liz [Jenica Bergere] is much less interesting. Or rather: superfluous.

Not quite what I expected.

There was no time travel involved, the whole film is lived to the moment.

Anyway, I was tired of it and all in all it was still nice but nothing memorable.

2.5 stars
