Haramuya plot

In Ouagadougou, a place characterized by its modern appearance and at the same time the poor deprived areas, we see Fousseini, a deeply religious Muslim who gives us a glimpse into the world in which he lives with his family. He favors ancient rituals and tries to uphold the traditions of his ancestors. One of his sons works in the cinema and supports his family against his wife's will. Another son is only looking for a girlfriend.

Coincidentally, I saw Drissa Touré in person before I had ever heard of the great man, and I also saw a documentary about him before I had seen a film of his (both at IFFR, at the quite nice one Le Taxi, le Cinéma et Moi (Film, 2023) with Q&A from both the maker and the main character). Now it's Haramuya's turn. There isn't much of a plot, I couldn't really discover the comedy from the genre description, but it was still quite fun to see life in Ouagadougou. A strictly religious father and his sons who each navigate life in their own way without much concern for tradition or religion. Cinema also plays an important role in the film, probably also something that formed Toure in Burkina Faso. Not spectacular and not very special in terms of story, but still a nice insight. I'll round it up, although 3.0* might be reasonable.
