Zusje plot
The film is about Martijn's obsession for his younger sister Daantje (Kim van Kooten), told from the perspective of his home video. Martijn (Hugo Metsers III), who lives in London, visits his sister five years younger to make a documentary about her, he says. With his video camera he manages to penetrate Daantje's life. Soon there appears to be an unresolved issue from a distant past that Daantje doesn't want to know anymore. It gradually becomes clear how Martijn's contact disorder and his obsession for his younger sister arose.

Definitely a good homegrown film. I had known the title for a long time, but never really had the inclination to go and see Zusje. Yesterday I finally got to work on it, and the introduction did not disappoint me.
The camera work is especially interesting. It soon becomes clear that Martijn has an obsession for younger sister, but the way of filming, from his perspective, ensures that his behavior only comes across more intense to the viewer. Furthermore Zusje contains a good mix of various genres. In addition to drama and thriller, there is also some fun humor in between. For example, I found it very funny to suddenly see Herman Brood walking past. He comes back a few more times later.
All in all, Zusje enjoyed herself quite well. The camera work and the strong acting ensure that the impact of Zusje largely comes across. A fine homegrown film, that must be said.

The story is quite nice, the acting is a bit less. The dialogues are also not that strong, I thought it was a mediocre script. This should have been worked out much better, now it's a bit clumsy. Nice to see this old video.

Controversial and special drama film about Martijn who films the daily life of his sister Daantje as a voyeur. In the course of the film, the filming takes on an increasingly obsessive and compelling character. Cinematography mainly indoors in rooms, occasionally outdoors. Music ranging from hard rock to classical. In the beginning it was a very student-like event with such a bunch of oversexed drunken teenagers in their twenties! The scene of the drunken Martijn that was filmed with his own camera was a kind of revenge. I agree with Martijn that sleeping people often look nicer (relaxed) than when they are awake..... The voice-over (Hugo Metsers) is a pleasant voice to listen to, but the text dripped of sarcasm. I was used to the handheld camera images at some point. The reason for the boarding school stay is not clear in the film, but we can guess. The viewer is drawn into the plot and the worst is suggested..... at the end of the film the real truth becomes apparent.....
ps I read that actor Romijn Conen (Martijn) has been going through a difficult time since 2015, regarding his health!
