23-year-old Ken is completely paralyzed by his father's suicide. He tries to commit suicide by jumping into a nearly frozen river, but miraculously survives. His mother thinks the only option left is to send Ken to his uncle Takuma in Japan. Takuma is in no way comparable to his quiet father. He is very unpredictable, has unconventional standards and values and insists that Ken get involved in sake and sex...
