The Man on the Train plot

A mysterious criminal (Larry Mullen Jr.) settles into a small town with a plan to rob the local bank, assuming it's done. But when he meets the retired professor of poetry (Donald Sutherland), his plans take an unlikely turn. Since the criminal has no place to spend the night, the professor welcomes him into his house. While the two men start talking, a bond develops between the two opposites.

A man [Larry Muller Jr.] with nefarious plans arrives in a village and meets a retired professor [Donald Sutherland] at the local pharmacy who invites him to his home. Consists mainly of conversations in which Sutherland uses his charisma to keep the viewer's interest. Given the static setting and the lack of action, this is not easy. Of course, it doesn't help that U2 drummer Mullen Jr. has no charisma or acting talent.
