New Gens.

A bit of a strange choice to want to make an exorcism film now. They were especially popular again about 5 years ago, now that the hype has died down a bit it seems to me more difficult to sell a film like this anyway.

Especially because on average it doesn't immediately add much to the genre. Crucifixion is not really a cinema film (I don't think it was shown here either), more a genre film for the horror lover. They can expect a beautifully worked out copy that easily surpasses most films in this niche.

Gens is also a director who transcends the horror genre a bit. The film may be full of clichés, but it is a lot more stylish than most of its kind. I have not seen so many crazy jump scares, but a film that gets a lot of atmosphere from its locations and that knows how to capture the key scenes very cleverly.

Acting is okay, progression is fairly predictable and it is probably not a film that will stay with you for a long time, but those looking for the better exorcism work will find Crucifixion to be a very nice film. Curious about Gens' other film that should be released this year.

3.5*

I completely agree with Onderhond above, it is well made, the atmosphere is good and the acting is also excellent.

Sure we've seen it many times before but that doesn't make this movie bad

It is another in a series of many exorbitant films that have been made in recent years and, in my opinion, one that stands out above average.

You could only say that the ending is rushed a bit, but that is the only downside for me.

A New York Sentinel journalist [Sophie Cookson] travels to Romania after a priest [Iván González] is arrested for killing a nun [Ada Lupu] during the exorcism of a demon for which he crucified her. The journalist has fallen from her faith after the death of her mother, and the demon feeds on souls of “weak faith.” You’re given ample time to guess how this is going to end while listening to religious and pseudoscientific drivel in dubious accents. Aside from a few jump scares, this routine demonic horror film is completely forgettable.
