De Bal plot

"Magic still exists ..."

Sophia doesn't have much. Her father is gone, and her mother is busy. She is not allowed to play with the children who call themselves the 'Beestie Boys'. But she has her fantasy that sometimes almost becomes reality. For example, an old man gave her a ball that leads its own life. He helps her when necessary against difficult opponents. And Sophie has that, because a mean mayor (Rijk de Gooyer) wants to replace the park with a sheet of asphalt. While the park is the only place she and her stray dog Mingus have.
