Just all the story of what the Korean has been through is very impressive. The fact that they then bring in a Japanese who also survives everything, is precisely what makes the film unbelievable. Furthermore, the story is really good and we travel with the characters to important places during World War II.

The action scenes sometimes look a bit cheap. Moreover, I often thought it was filmed in a messy way, all those Asians are already more difficult to tell apart and when filmed in this way you sometimes lose the overview. Nevertheless, a good movie. 3.5*

A wonderful story about two rival soldiers who served in no less than three (!) different armies during the Second World War. Allegedly based on true events.

War films that emphasize violence at the front are not my cup of tea. In this film too, the remarkable story about the interaction between the two protagonists is overshadowed too much by that violence, which looks the same in all these types of film and does not bring anything new. Shame.

How this ridiculous film can get such a high rating is a mystery to me , the incredibility is dripping from it , everything is over the top , the yelling at each other almost non stop , the action scenes with the low point of a woman who is killed with 1 shot from a gun . getting a plane out of the sky technically almost impossible but yes , in this movie anything is possible .
And then at the height of the battle we get of course the emotional scenes complete with violin music, but it doesn't do much for you as a viewer because it is so over the top that it feels laughable.
Some technically nice action scenes are well done but it takes a lot more than that to tell a good story and this film fails miserably at that.
