A gripping film about indestructible friendship in good and bad times against the background of euthanasia legislation in Belgium. The film starts very happy and ends very emotionally. In between is the story of the different ways Mario and his friends react to his situation and their profound disagreements over his wish to choose the ending himself.

A solid story, which is excellently interpreted by Koen De Graeve, Iwein Segers and in particular by Geert van Rampelberg.

Without a doubt one of the better Flemish films of recent years.

This was on TV and therefore the ideal time to watch. I thought it was a nice movie. Of course not the most cheerful film, but there were also some less sad things in it, in short, with a smile and a tear.

The cast also did an excellent job and came across convincingly.

Great movie.

Impressive Belgian film about the fight against MS and the legal wrangling about the euthanasia law that was finally passed. For me one of the best Belgian films I've ever seen. Long gone under the radar for me. Last week I saw Mar Adentro (2004) and see many similarities with this film. This Belgian brother is slightly less poetic and slightly more light-hearted, but at least just as poignant.

Balthazar's best film, that much is clear. In which he went wrong at the end with the equally strong Ben X (2007) and with Everybody Happy (2016) In its entirety, it flopped, receiving deserved praise from the press and the public. Also based on true events of the real Mario Verstraete, although it is very questionable how thick the strong friendships are turned on. It does make sure that the film is very pleasant to follow despite the heavy theme. Lighthearted, funny and moving. Balthazar found the ideal mix.

Until always, more than Mar adentro has a clear standpoint in favor of euthanasia, but equally brings out the views or the true feelings of the non-believers. Koen De Graeve and Geert Van Rampelberg are doing great and the rest are doing fine too. Everything was beautifully portrayed and the perfect balance was found for this melancholy theme. Beautiful!
