An associative journey, based on a number of core poems and informal encounters with the Polish poet Wislawa Szymborska. The documentary is also a journey through Poland; in her poems she comments on Polish history in a very personal way. When she was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1996, she was overwhelmed by the attention and publicity this entailed. Szymborska has lived in seclusion ever since and this documentary offers a unique insight into her life and work.
