L'Histoire Secrète de l'Archipel du Goulag plot

About the creation of the book The Gulag Archipelago by Alexandr Solzhenitsyn about the prison camps for dissidents that were established under Soviet rule after the Second World War and which killed an estimated 2.7 million people. In the book Solzhenitsyn describes the degrading conditions in which he himself was imprisoned for eight years from 1945 onwards; in full cells bursting with forced labor at -30°C. But the way the book came about is almost as remarkable as its content. He wrote the book for ten years in the 1950s and 1960s. For fear of being arrested by the Soviet secret service, he did so at various secret locations, regularly changing hiding places.
