Blaue Wimpel im Sommerwind plot

Documentary about the 'Junge Pioniere' in the 1950s. Young pioneers build a glider during a summer camp on the Baltic Sea, a trip to the sailing school Wilhelm Pieck, a cross-country race in the mountains, an expedition to the river Havel and a visit to the town of Thomas Müntzer in Mühlhausen. The highlight is the Young Pioneer convention in Dresden. The title song "Die Heimat hat sich schön gemacht, und Tau blitzt ihr im Haar" became an East German national anthem.
