I was hoping for some entertaining trash from the Band brothers, but I was left wanting.

The story is not a bad idea, but the execution (especially the acting) is poor. The effects also look very bad. Usually I find that the charm of pictures like this, but some things (like the green glowing eyes) look very cheap.

This is also reflected in the sets, because here and there it all looks very plastic and here and there it looks like the decor of the local school musical.

In addition, the film contains too little humor in my opinion. They try to keep it serious, while the fun thing about this kind of film is that they poke fun at themselves. However, this was missing and I secretly think that is a shame. Finally, I also stumbled over the fact that the film was called Ghoulies, while the creatures do not play a significant role. What is the point of naming the film after them? Anyway, it won't be the first time that C. Band has done something like that.

A minor setback.

Ouch.

It was the cover that looked familiar to me. One that I used to see a lot in the video store, but never picked up. And in retrospect, that's probably a good thing. The most amazing thing about this film is that they decided to release a Blu-Ray version of it. As if a slightly clearer image would add something to the quality.

It all looks super cheap. The dolls look more IQ-crazed than scary, the drawn effects are to cry (those green eyes) and those who hope for funny creatures will also be disappointed. Actually they are only secondary characters in this first part. Just like the dwarves ... you have to pay close attention to understand what on earth they are doing in the film.

No gore either, most of it happens off-screen. With your back to the camera or behind tree trunks. The budget probably had something to do with it, but the way it is shamelessly used over and over again is just annoying.

And we wisely keep quiet about the acting. Not that it matters.

What a load of misery this is.

Now of course I don't have to make very high demands with a low budget film like this, but the entertainment value is also at 0.

The acting is lame, the story is stupid and worthless (I still don't understand what the whole point of this whole thing is), the little monsters (I assume the Ghoulies?) are clearly hand puppets and together with those dwarves they serve no purpose in the film. There is also no humor, no tension and no gore. Afterwards I also wondered what I was watching, I really have no idea.

It's been a while since I've given out the lowest, but I'm used to it with Underdog. This is just junk that's best left alone.
