After a horrific set of circumstances, cocky young lawyer Michael Gray is convicted of murdering an inmate and cell 213 at South River State Prison becomes his home base. Unnatural forces cause prisoners to commit suicide to a high degree, and Michael soon discovers that the question of guilt and innocence is not as simple as he wants to believe. God and the devil have been fighting for souls since the existence of man and the battle continues in cell 213.

Not a bad concept and it's not necessarily a bad film, but ultimately the execution is far too dime a dozen to be even remotely memorable. Typical film that you will have forgotten tomorrow.
For a horror film it is simply not creepy, scary, exciting or gross enough. With Balfour, Rooker and Rothaford Gray you have a great cast who perform their roles well, but the film itself is just not that interesting. Occasionally you have some nice scenes (the hell that opens up when Eric Balfour is hanged and the embalming of the rapist). At 109 minutes, it's just a bit too long.
