New York, late 1940s. After his father's death, Sal Paradise (Sam Riley), an aspiring New York writer, meets the riotous and adventurous Dean Moriarty (Garrett Hedlund). Longing for freedom, they flee from the daily grind and travel across America. Between despair and rapture, they experiment with sex, love, drugs, alcohol and music. They seek the turmoil, the wild life, the debauchery -- the peaks of their emotions.

Film with very strong scenes, I think. Pretty gross but not empty-headed, because thoughts and images of irresponsibility, searching for a fixed value in life and meaning, extreme selfishness, craving for importance and attention, little real friendship, etc... are discussed in the film. Maybe a little too drawn out.
All the actors, and there are quite a few, act convincingly in their roles.
