Elsa is a simple but stubborn young woman who lives in a remote village. One day she claims that the Virgin Mary appeared to her and gave her healing powers. She soon embarks on a crusade of healing across the country. She gains followers, a group that is steadily expanding. However, the representatives of the Catholic Church are fighting her because Elsa undermines their authority and her claims must first be investigated.
