Insiang plot

Shot in the Tondo slums of Manila with a neo-realistic eye, this familial melodrama plays like a full-blooded Greek tragedy. The title character is a young woman living in miserable and destitute conditions with her single and tyrannical mother. Tensions rise when the mother takes in a younger lover who actually does not want the mother, but the daughter. Slowly these three characters become entangled in a maelstrom of jealousy, lust and revenge.
