The story revolves around two women: a mother who returns from Mexico after 15 years and her daughter Rebeca, who has since grown up, who stayed behind in Spain. The mother is a well-known singer and actress. Rebeca works as a TV presenter at her husband's company, who used to be her mother's lover. The two women try to reunite after the long separation. But then one night Rebeca's husband is shot dead.

Above average Almodovar...although we have to make do with just one important transvestite.
We do get a great lesbian dance and the usual candy cane colors.
Mainly mother-daughter drama that already breathes some of the even better "All About My Mother".
Although we are also dealing with a murder case that becomes increasingly bizarre as the film progresses. Very typical Almodovar...even a kind of average of what can be seen in his films will score better with his enthusiasts than with the casual passer-by.

A variation on the “guilt and punishment” theme about the problems of a mother and daughter, who are estranged after a decades-long separation. Their aspirations and their intertwined love relationships give the underlying tensions between the two of them an extra dimension.
Not Almodóvar's best work in my opinion, but still a great film. Tiny supporting role by Javier Bardem.
Dievegge rightly points to the beautiful rendition of "Piensa en mi".

Good film about a mother and adult daughter who meet again after years. The mother-daughter relationship is sometimes a bit overshadowed by the murder, but it does make the film entertaining. Moreover, it also provides the best scene in the film (the confession on TV). Depicted with bright colors and large earrings.
